Friday April 12 at 6 p.m., 20+ poets will be reading poems in response to art at the Portland Museum of Art. I’ll be reading “You Did Good,” written in response to one of Ashley Bryan’s amazing puppets, Serwaa, a feisty, fabulous being. For the first time, I felt called to see what would rise up for me writing in response to art. What I found interesting is that I was pulled in very clear ways. I love paintings and photographs but every fiber of me was responding to and leaning into things that I could touch, if I were only allowed to, able to. Marble and wood and porcelain, knotted fiber. Come out and hear Stu Kestenbaum, Betsy Sholl, Linda Aldrich, Jefferson Navicky, Rebecca Falzano, and, obviously, more. Reception at 5:15. We’re going to have a time!
