Kathleen Ellis’s fabulous new poetry collection, Body of Evidence, winner of the 2022 Grayson Books Poetry Prize, launches this Saturday. If you landed on this page through the MWPA Peavey announcement portal, it’s because our amazing local bookstore owner, Gibran Graham, is still currently recovering from a serious health situation and his people are furiously attempting to keep all the whistles blowing and pistons firing manning the shop—and they may not get this posted in ways of yore. Bless them. They’re doing an incredible job.

If you have any questions for the Briar Patch, call 207.941.0255 (Instagram). Or feel free to email me at a.jakimides@gmail.com or call me at 207-745-3807. Here’s my Instagram.

BookSpace is a sweet little venue a block back from downtown. We’ll have readings (not too long, no worries!) and books for sale (no pressure!) and refreshments (yes, wine and juice and goodies!) and a ton of JOY!

Body of Evidence is fabulous. Of course, you say, I’ll say that, but it is!

Because Kathleen really is one of the most generous writers I know, she’s invited me to read my work too. Other readers are Francois Amar, Carolyn Locke, Stefania Irene Marthakis, Ellen Sander, Sareena Toothaker, Kiely Callahan, Emma Crawford, and Sam Mills. We are all so happy to celebrate this book, and its award, with Kathleen.
